Versatility disguised as sophisticated luxury.
The CX-9 serves up a breathtakingly original crossover experience. One that's nimble, exhilarating and fun. The CX-9 boasts a highly advanced 273-hp, 3.7 L, DOHC, V6 engine that features a robust 270 lb. ft. of torque. And its sport-sedan-inspired handling and crisp road manners run spirited circles around other crossovers.
Exterior
The Mazda CX-9 is designed to evoke a strong pride of ownership. Without sacrificing versatility or efficiency, the CX-9 achieves the sophisticated appearance of a vehicle costing considerably more. The CX-9's front end is unmistakably Mazda, with its bold five-point grille, while unique trapezoid chrome exhaust finishers make it hard to miss from behind. A smooth and flowing profile, prominent wheels and tires, muscular fenders and steeply angled windshield and backlight add to the CX-9's dramatic but refined look.
Interior
Generous 7-passenger capacity, with reclining front bucket seats, a 60/40-split folding rear bench seat and a 50/50-split folding third-row bench seat; versatile second- and third-row seatbacks can be folded flat without the need to remove the head restraints.
Performance
Advanced transmission and drive components transfer power from the CX-9's V6 engine to the pavement swiftly and capably. Mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with Sport mode and complemented by the available active torque split all-wheel drive system, the result is a sophisticated crossover utility vehicle with the soul of a sports car.
Safety
There are two types of safety features - active and passive. An active safety feature is one that will physically aid the driver in controlling the vehicle, increasing the possibility of avoiding an accident. Active safety features on the CX-9 include ABS with EBFD and Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) with Traction Control System (TCS) and Roll Stability Control (RSC), and available all-wheel drive. In the unfortunate circumstance that a collision occurs, however, passive safety features help protect the occupants of the vehicle from injury. Passive safety features include chassis design, component safety features, airbag systems and crash management.
