If you want to travel in a stylish and comfortable SUV around Surrey, Burnaby, Langley, Richmond, and the wider Vancouver area, but you also want impressive fuel economy, a quality interior, and a great driving experience, look no further than the sensational 2022 Mazda CX-30. You could pay considerably more for a German or Japanese luxury alternative, but even those models would struggle to deliver bigger than the CX-30 does in almost every aspect that really matters.
To get that highly desirable coupe-like exterior styling with most SUVs usually means paying considerably more than you’d have to pay for a less attractive version with a more traditional roofline, but that’s the case with the 2022 Mazda CX-30. This subcompact crossover SUV sells itself just with the way it looks, but when you take a closer look, things get better and better.
There are just three trim levels in the 2022 Mazda CX-30 lineup, which start with the entry-level GS and then go to the mid-range GX and finally to the range-topping GT model. And there’s no need to worry about whether to pay extra for the additional capability of all-wheel-drive as all three trim levels get it as part of their standard specification.
Even though there are only three models in the lineup, the 2022 Mazda CX-30 is still available with three different engines for you to choose from. The standard unit in the entry-level CX-30 GX is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that puts out 155 horsepower and 150 lb.-ft. of torque. Next up is a 2.5-litre four-cylinder that provides the subcompact Mazda crossover with 186 horsepower and 186 lb.-ft. of torque. But if you want the most power that the CX-30 has available, there’s a 2.5-litre turbo-four available for the CX-30 GT that develops 227 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. using regular fuel, or 250 horsepower and 320 lb.-ft. with 93 octane fuel.
In all cases, the power is sent exclusively to all four wheels of the Mazda through a six-speed automatic transmission with a manual-shift mode and Drive Selection switch, but GT models also get steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters for an element of manual control and extra driver engagement. 2.0-litre models are rated for fuel economy at 9.4 L/100 km in the city and 7.7 L/100 km on the highway, while the non-turbo and turbo 2.5 versions offer 9.9/7.7 L/100 km or 10.5/7.9 L/100 km, respectively.
All versions of the 2020 Mazda CX-30 come with an impressive list of standard features. Every model gets an electronic parking brake, rearview camera, Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. If you go for a GS or GT, standard safety features then also include the likes of Mazda Radar Cruise Control, front and rear Smart Brake Support, Pedestrian Detection, Forward Obstruction Warning, Lane Departure Warning System, Driver Attention Alert, a Traffic Sign Recognition System and more.
All models also get an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, but GT models are the ones for audiophiles as they come with a Bose premium sound system with 12 speakers. Every CX-30 comes with heated seats, but the GT goes to the luxurious lengths of standard leather upholstery with optional Garnet Red leather trimming and a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory function.
The 2022 Mazda CX-30 looks sensational; it drives great, is economical to run, and comes packed with standard equipment at every level. Come and experience it for yourself with a test drive from Freeway Mazda here at 15420 104 Ave, Surrey, BC, or give us a call at (604) 583-7121 for more information about pricing and availability and to book a test drive for a time that fits your schedule.
