A stylish and sporty SUV by any measure, the all-new 2025 Mazda CX-70 is a brand-new model in the Mazda SUV family that combines elegance and utility with a dynamic personality and performance. It’s a roomy SUV that looks and drives great. If that sounds like the midsize SUV you’re looking for, wait until you learn more about it.
The new Mazda SUV comes in four trim levels: the base CX-70 GS-L, the GT, the GT-P, and the top-of-the-line Signature. These are the 48-Volt mild-hybrid versions, not the plug-in hybrids. The CX-70 stands out from its bigger sibling in the Mazda SUV family with its sleek and dark exterior design that adopts a fashionable “blacked-out” theme. That theme features 19-inch dark grey alloy wheels with a metallic shine, black chrome badges that say “Inline 6”, and black accents on the side mirrors, wheel arches, roof rails, window frames, and rear spoiler. And if that’s caught your attention regarding the base model, wait until you find out about the other specifications.
The 2025 Mazda CX-70 offers two 48-Volt mild-hybrid engine options, both of them 3.3-litre turbocharged six-cylinders. The standard engine for the GS-L and GT trims produces 280 horsepower and 332 lb.-ft. of torque. It has a fuel efficiency rating of 9.9 L/100 km in the city, 8.4 L/100 km on the highway, and 9.3 L/100 km combined, according to NRCAN. The high-output engine for the GT-P and Signature trims delivers 340 horsepower and 369 lb.-ft. of torque. It has a slightly higher fuel consumption of 10.3 L/100 km in the city, 8.5 L/100 km on the highway, and 9.5 L/100 km combined. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and come with standard all-wheel-drive. The CX-70 can also tow up to 5,000 pounds, which is about right for an SUV at this level.
The 2025 Mazda CX-70 has a spacious, luxurious interior with plenty of cargo space and amenities. You can fold the rear seats remotely, use the sub-trunk for extra storage, and plug in your devices with the 1,500W outlet in the trunk. The CX-70 also comes with a 10.25- or 12.3-inch touch-screen infotainment system with Mazda Connect, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging, and Alexa integration. You can also opt for a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a head-up display, a Bose 12-speaker sound system, and Mazda Online Navigation at higher trim levels. The GT-P trim adds Nappa leather seats in different colours, ventilated front seats, heated front and rear seats, a leather steering wheel, and more leather on the dashboard. The CX-70 also offers a facial recognition system that personalizes the settings for each driver.
The all-new 2025 Mazda CX-70 is a stunning addition to the Mazda family for those who want a luxurious midsize SUV without a third-row seat or a premium ticket. It has a stylish, sporty exterior, comfortable, high-tech interior, and powerful and smooth performance. And if you’re looking for an Achilles heel, good luck finding one.
