Lots of great choices
The exterior styling of the 2024 Mazda3 Sedan is something of an exercise in restrained elegance that sets it apart from its supposed rivals. The outline is sleek, sporty, and athletic, but it also retains more premium air than you’d expect at this price point. The look of the Mazda is sporty enough to grab your attention, but in a grown-up way, that’s anything but “boy-racer.”
The available trim levels for 2024 are the GX, GS, GT, and new Suna Edition. However, there’s also a GS Luxury Package with all-wheel-drive and a version of the GT with a turbo engine upgrade. It doesn’t matter if you think there are four or six trim levels; there’s a Mazda3 Sedan for most tastes and applications.
Configure it your way
In its most affordable GX guise, the 2024 Mazda3 Sedan used to come with a 155-horsepower 2.0-litre inline-four engine, a six-speed manual transmission, and front-wheel drive. However, although it’s still a front-drive model, the GX now comes standard with the more powerful 191-horsepower 2.5-litre inline-four engine and six-speed automatic transmission, just like the GS above it.
The GS Luxury Package is what some would regard as the next trim level. You can only have the GS Luxury with the automatic transmission and 2.5-litre engine, but you can choose between the 2.0-litre (FWD) and 2.5-litre (AWD) engines. The GT model is only available with the 2.5-litre engine, but you can choose between front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and manual and automatic transmissions. The ultimate Mazda3 Sedan used to be the GT Turbo, which adds a 2.5-litre turbo-four engine and AWD to the standard GT specification. The turbo engine produces a lively 227 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque if you use regular 87-octane fuel or an even more impressive 250 horsepower and 320 lb.-ft. if you use premium 93-octane fuel. And if you prefer a little extra style, the Suna Edition is a new range-topping model for 2024.
Feature-rich specifications
Even the most affordable version of the 2024 Mazda3 Sedan gets standard 16-inch alloy wheels, G-Vectoring Control Plus, air conditioning, LED lights, rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry, push-button start, heated front seats, and an 8.8-inch infotainment system with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity.
All models also get an impressive list of standard safety features, including a wide-angle rearview camera, Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring System, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. If you go beyond the entry-level GX, however, the standard specification then includes Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, Smart City Brake Support Front, Distance and Speed Alert, Smart Brake Support Front, Forward Pedestrian Detection, Distance Recognition Support System, Forward Obstruction Warning, Lane-keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, and Driver Attention Alert.
